I am looking into getting a dryer, (I work alone and so a hand dryer is what I have been using but OMG!!! Takes forever!!) How is yours working for you?

Lucky you, Elizabeth. Isn't it a great feeling? How long will you have to wait until they arrive?
I just bought I new dryer at Canada Grooms, the Chris Christensen Kool Dry. I'm actually looking forward to Tuesday when I get my first dog in so I can try it out. (never thougt I'd say that!)

oh my gosh! I don't know how you work with just a hand dryer! The groomer I hired was doing the same and can't believe what she was missing. She already bought a new Metro. Mine is working out great so far, has two motors so I have double the blow power now! I usually only use the second for big dogs, I think it would blow the little ones right off the table!

RuffCuts, I already got them.. have been using them for about a month now and am in love. My new table is amazing... I'm glad I got it while I'm young, gotta try to make my back last as long as possible.
I heard the CC dryer was good, let us know how it works for you!

Hi Elizabeth,
It's great that you have been able to expand your business by hiring another groomer. It is probably nice to have someone else there to help out. Most days I don't mind working on my own, but occasionally it would be nice to have some company and someone to help out with the more challenging dogs. I bet you're really enjoying your new table, I don't know how I did it before without my hydraulic table. My shoulder has been feeling a lot better because I don't have to lift the big dogs out of the tub anymore. I don't know if I will be up your way in the near future, have to see when my husband has to make another trip to Cape Breton! I, also, can't believe a groomer still only works with a hand dryer - it would take forever to get a big dog finished! My Double K dryer is starting to make funny noises, but I hope it won't quit on me just yet.

Re: have to share...
I have the CC Kool dryer and I like it better than the metro 4hp thats for sure. Not as strong as the k911 but its pretty darn good
I have a hanvey big blue table. It has wheels so I can put the large dogs on it and wheel it to my tub. I use to need help with the big dogs till I got this table.

Re: have to share...
When I started out after grooming school, all I could afford was a handheld dryer. I agree. It... took... FOREVER to dry a big dog!! I went through 2 handheld dryers (both litterally started to smoke and died on me) before I bit the bullet and bought a HV dryer. What a difference! Particularely since many of the dogs I had to groom at the vet clinic where I was working were the big hairies... bernese, goldens, cockers, labs, etc... Still have back problems from that job, because I had to lift the dogs into and out of the tub (eventually got wise and asked the owners of the big guys to stay and help me), and until I could afford a hydraulic table, all I had was a home-made regular grooming table or the choice to do the dogs on the floor (also not good for the back!)... Didn't even have a proper floor tether! But as bad as the set up was, I loved that job. Was there for 3 years, and the only reason I left was because I was moving to Ontario to continue my education...
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Now, I've got a scissor lift table, a ramp for the tub, a CC Kool Dry (which I love!) HV and a groomer's helper. Not risking any more back issues if I can possibly avoid it.
