using flea & tick products while pregnant?

It hasn't been an issue yet, but I'm preparing for the situation, if/when it happens.

I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant, and I'm a bit worried about using flea & tick shampoos. Is it just a question of wearing latex gloves & a mask, or should I be doing something else, too? I just want to make sure my baby is safe... I've already miscarried once (6 weeks in. Not caused by anything I used/did... just my body saying "nope... not this time" ), I don't want to go through that again! I asked my OB, and she couldn't give me a definitive answer.
