Grrr.....Bought Some Equipment....

Post by sk9klippery on February 1st 2008, 6:23 pm

I found an ad on Kijiji.ca for used grooming equipment, a girl had taken a course at a local college and then decided grooming wasn't for her. So after a "month"of use they were selling all her stuff for $500. Included was a table, one of those arms like the LIPS system has, some shedding rakes, grooming loops, apron, super 2 speed andis, double duck shears, another pair i had never heard of, a slicker, and a few disposable blades. So i said fine i would take it all, i stressed that i didn't need half of it, i just wanted the table, arm and clipper, she said she would keep it but the price would stay the same, so i took it all. Anyway, i tried the clippers yesterday, and boy was there ever a noise coming from them, a grinding kind of noise. There was also a faint smell. My husband said that the motor was toast. Arggghhhh....I specifically asked them if they had been dropped and they insisted they hadn't been. I would never have bought them, and no i didn't even to turn them on, duh!!!!I know i should have, but i had faith in this person that she wasn't lying. Now i don't know what to do. I'm thinking of calling her and asking for a refund.
Grrr....i was so happy to use those too!!!

I would contact her and see what she says, but chances are slim they are going to give you anything back. Not very nice to sell it to you in that condition.

Well i did end up calling her, she agreed to give me back $125, plus 3 of the blades, i'm not sure if i want to do this or not, i wonder what it would cost to refurbish these clippers?

So i sent the clippers out to deboer, i haven't heard back from them yet, but i talked to the mother and we decided that if it costs less than $60 to fix them she would pay for it. If it is more, then i will give them back to her and she will refund me $125. So i'm crossing my fingers that things will work out.
