Closing my grooming business.

Post by atlantic44 on December 29th 2008, 5:01 pm

I may be closing my business sometime in the next few months. We have decided to move from our rural area to the city. I won't be able to continue grooming from home as we are moving into a condo. Of course, this is all hinging on us being able to sell our house.

I wouldn't open a shop in town, I can't do enough dogs per day to carry it. I have inquired about working for a pet shop. The owner would pay me half what she charges for a groom and all I would need to supply are my scissors/clippers, combs, etc. I may look into this more once we have moved.

Our second son will be starting university in the city next fall, we already have an older son attending. With only one car and driver (my husband) we find it a challenge to get the boys where they need to be. Also, if the price of gas goes up again, we really get hit in the pocket book. So, you may find a notice from me in the near future selling some of my supplies.

Sorry to hear that you mayl have to close your salon. I'm sure once you get to the city there will be lots of jobs for you.

That sucks, but just think of how much less stress you will have on your shoulders. Just show up to work, do your grooms and go home.....somedays i wish things were like that!!!

thats too bad that you have to close your doors.. but the stress load will lighten a lot! I have a pet supply store with grooming and hired another groomer in September.. she gets commision and just supplies her equipment(minus dryers/table/etc) and so far she's really happy and so am I. It could definately be a good fit! I think I'd love to work for a pet supply store if I had the chance.
