new salon set-up! lol

Post by thh20 on April 28th 2009, 1:12 pm

My husband owns and runs a comic book store. Free Comic Book Day is this coming Saturday. It's a promotional day for comic book stores in which they give out free comic books (specially designated & shipped for just this event) to help drum up business for the industry. Seeing as we're a dual business house, we thought it would be a great time to do some cross-promotion for my new salon. So the idea is that we'll print up a sign, saying something like "coming soon: a new grooming salon is opening. Come on down and take a look!" I'll be on hand to answer questions and (hopefully) book appointments, but we thought the salon itself might benefit from a bit of a "lived in" feel. Unfortunately, I don't have any dogs to work on that day, so we came up with an alternative. Check it out!

In the tub, we have Mozart (Momo for short), named after a St-Bernard I knew when I worked at a vet clinic. He'd come in for a monthly nail trim. His owners literally walked around with a drool rag, whenever they took the dog with them! Thickest nails I've ever known, but a giant teddy bear of a dog.

On the table is Ein, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named after a corgi of the same name on an anime series called "Cowboy Beebop" (had to look that one up!)

What do you think? Too much? lol

If nothing else, it will make people's visit memorable! Laughing

At least it gets the point across. What else are you supposed to do, you can't really have a dog in tub, or on the table all day. I think also, not sure if you already do or not. Have lots of handouts. ie: info on the grooming procedure, grooming the puppy, info on yourself, goals etc. I think the more knowledge you provide them with the better. Goodluck with your open house.

That is cute. When the vet in my area had an open house, they did the same thing. They had a stuffed dog on the surgery table and the exam table and the grooming table. I thought is was a very good idea. Where is the comic book store? My husband collects comic books and would like to come and see it. Thanks

Sorry to take so long to respond. I just had a baby and my time hasn't been my own lately! The comic book store is on Pape, a few blocks south of Danforth. You can pm me if want more info.
