What is your policy if....

I'm just wondering if anyone has every had a dog come in for a groom, then the owner disappear and never come back to pick it up??? What did you do?? How do you prevent this from happening???

It has never happened to me, and i hope this has never happened/s to anyone else.

Well so far that hasn't happened to me but we have had 3 dogs that the owners said they were going to get rid of, one was on her way to the shelter right after her groom. All 3 were adopted on the spot , 2 by my business partner (from different homes) and 1 by a staff member. I know from working in a kennel and also a vet that if an animal is dumped you are supposed to take it to the shelter and then do your best to contact the owner and let them know where the dog is so they can go and re-claim it. Because dogs are considered property you are not legally supposed to keep them.....but I think if it was me I would likely keep the dog for a while and hope that either the owner comes back or find it a new home.
