Pet Edge

Post by Admin on January 1st 2009, 2:13 pm

Does anyone purchase items from Pet Edge? We have in the past but the shipping is a killer. I have heard some people have a P.O. Box in the US where they have the items shipped to and then they pick them up themselves. Is this possible (legal)? I have also heard some people set up their own brokerage, anyone know anything about this. I would love to be able to get some more retail in but prices and shipping do make it difficult. Any thoughts???

Last time i purchased from pet edge, i believe it was UPS that called me about brokerage. The fees are huge for someone without a broker, and from what i understood, you can use them for a lesser fee. What i do when i'm ordering from the US now, one of the ladies i work with shows quite often in the US, she provides me an address i can ship to, then she'll pick it up and bring the stuff back. Sometimes in the US, if your order is large enough they'll quite often ship for free within the states. So its awesome for me, no shipping or duty fees....unless she decides to claim it.
I wish it was much easier for u all up here.

I have a post office box in the states (my shop is a 5 min walk to the border crossing). I pick up my stuff there, go to customs, claim it as business, drive to the commerical office, log it in, pay my business duties and no brokerage fees. It is a pain but I sell retail too so I save in the long run.

ah, thats a great idea! If only I was closer to the border. I have ups as my brokerage thinger, I didn't know they were so expensive though b/c I've never had any other company send stuff up from the states. Guess I should look into that.
