Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
[ I have to go on surgery in the begining of December and this year I will not be able to groom till sometimes after mid of January when things will be slow again. It looks gloom for me...[/quote]
Hope everything goes well for you!! Christmas is a bad time to not be grooming but we can't always prevent these things.

Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
I am aware that timing is not good, but when specialist had a date I did not want it to postpone. I am looking forward to finish with that once for all. I hope I can recover in new year and continue again.
My first year in business was better then I thought it could be for newbie, my profits exceeded my initial expenses (including school tuition) and I could not allow to wait with surgery-it is just way too important for me. I just wish that November is going to be busier that will be only one more month of earnings on grooming dogs before my income taxes due.
Looking forward for spring!!!

I hope your surgery goes well! I will be going for surgery also and I am anxious to get it done.( Growth 4cm on my ovary) I am also hoping that the results for the biopsy turns in my favor this time !(Not sure I can go through all that again) Will your surgery completely incapacitate you? Maybe there will be a way that you can still groom some smaller critters!

Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
I do not know Pixie Charm. My surgery is booked for December 8th. I will have endomertial ablation (which is laser burning of the lining of uterus). Aperently my last c-section that was done 8 years ago left 3 large cavities in my uterus and I went thru hell for the last 8 years with pain, heavy bleading and mood swings. They were days that I tought that I am loosing my mind.
I hope surgery will at least stop bleading ones for all. I had enough. To compare that with money that I could earn thru Christmas break or thru month of December and option to live new life without pain I rather chose second.
I wish you all the best with your biopsy. Ahh, being a woman...

That sounds horrible. I really hope all goes well for you! I sometimes think men have it easy! LOL, I mean, most of women's problems start with "men"! ex: "menstruation, menopause, mental illness!! I am just glad that even though we can be "moody" at times, at least the animals pretend they do not notice!

Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
Thanks, Pixie Charm, for the birthday wish. I had a very nice weekend, went out for a nice dinner with my husband on Saturday and on Friday night we went shopping and I bought two new pairs of shoes!!
Regarding how busy business has been, well, mine has been slower since the end of August. I have booked most of my regular clients for December, but right now I am averaging 6-8 dogs a week. I'm glad I work on my own from home and don't have the overhead of rent or salaries to pay.
I may only be doing the grooming for another few months anyway. We are thinking of moving into the city and I won't be able to work from home, as we will probably move into an apartment.

We slowed down a lot over the past two weeks but it seems to be picking up again.. booked 6 new appointments in one day last week! I'm booked for xmas from the 10th on which isn't too bad either. My new groomer is usually only booking up a day before, but we're hoping things will pick up for her soon, especially with xmas on the way.

Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
How is everyone fairing these days???? We have our slow days, and our busy ones. We're slow compared to what we're used to.
Has anyone else noticed a difference in there clientelle as well??? With the economy and all i'm noticing that the dogs that were regular, are not regular anymore, they are pushing there grooms to 12 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks.
I'm also in a GM town, not sure if that really will affect me as a lot of GM employees commute, but i think its just scaring people, they don't want to spend money!!!

Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
We have been a bit slow, but I think it's because of the freezing cold weather. Our regulars are still coming in but the other calls have been fewer. Come on warmer weather!!!! We need some of those nice +2 days to get this snow melting and make those puppies nice and mucky LOL. I just heard on the news today that we have had a total of 46cm of snow so far this year, 10cm more than last year at this time.

Re: JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE BUSY??
we're a tad slow too but I'm usually about 80% filled for the week ahead. My other groomer, however, is booking a day a head.. sometimes not getting full days of grooming.

For some reason we are starting to get the shedding dogs in as they have all started blowing coat. It's really weird considering how cold it has been, but good for us!
