Hi everybody!

I am opening a new shop, Doggie Styles, in Sault Ste Marie next week. I have absolutely no experience in grooming, BUT I do have a certified groomer who owned her own business for 7 years as well as an experienced bather. Everything seemed to fall into place - we were all looking for something new, the location came open at a great rent, etc. so here we are one week before opening!

My husband has been amazing -- doing all the needed renovations. My daughter will be the ...

Hi

I live outside of Sutton Ontario but am going to be moving to Newmarket this fall. I use to show Papillons in obedience and have always done all my own grooming on my own dogs. I have DVDs to help me learn but not hands on help. Day school is not an option, tried to find a mentor..no luck..I noticed PS in Newmarket wanted a bather..maybe that would be a good start to gain some confidence? I'm not sure how to apply though because it says apply online and all my work experience is non-animal ...

I used to work in pet stores and vet clinics. I would never be happy with any other job, I have to be with pets. Looking forward to reading some posts.

Hi everybody...

I was just wondering if anyone might have a little time to tell me what kind of school they attended (which one specifically if in the Toronto/GTA area. Or has anyone taken any online and obtained employment as a result?

Also what is considered ridiculous for tuition?

Anything anyone can tell me would be SO much appreciated. I'm all flustered and confused after being online for three days looking all over.

Thanks,

Hi all!

I'm from Toronto too! Was born & raised in Montreal, but moved to Ontario in '04... I LOVE it here!

I'm in the process of starting my own business. I should be ready to open in a few short weeks! I live with my husband of 2 years, my dog, 2 cats, and a tankful of fish (anyone want a tankful of fish? )

I already know someone on this board, but I'm not going to say who... I'll let the mystery unfold by itself!

It can be very limiting what you can do as the products we use are not always what is best for the job at hand but it is a great place to get a variety of dogs to work on. It is a very exciting time for me now trying to learn different grooming techniques I have a ton to learn but really love grooming dogs and can't wait to learn more. It is great ...

I've been grooming from home for about 2 1/2 years, before that I worked in a kennel and for another groomer.
Hi,

I've been grooming from my home salon for almost 2 years now, after completing my grooming course.

I used to have an office job, but enjoy grooming soooo much more although I sometimes feel a little lonely working on my own. I only groom 4 dogs each day, but it usually takes me all day to do that.

I have 2 dogs, a Bichon and a Havanese, and 2 cats, a grey DSH and a Bengal.

I have enjoyed reading this forum and look forward to participating in future discussions.

The Queen, Rile (rhymes with Nile) and her beautiful babies were the result of someone's cruelty. My son discovered this poor cat in our backyard one day and we noticed she was following him everywhere. A couple of weeks later, I noticed that she had made herself a nest in the undercarriage of our old dodge in the backyard. I then checked her over...FUR COVERED SKELETON. I spent 6 years at home with the zoo as a result of a serious car accident 6 years ago which left me permanently disabled.
Hi everyone! I just stumbled across your board this morning, and thought I might say hello My name is Krista, I'm from PEI, and I've been grooming for just about 5 years. I have a small temporary shop in my parents home (they're allowing me to keep it there until we buy a place of our own and can set up something more permanent) It's not a terribly busy shop, but the clients that I do have are a wonderful bunch As for my own furkids, I am owned by an 11 yr old Springer Spaniel (my absolute ...

Hello, This is a fresh new site, I like that for some reason. Anyways, my name is Angela I'm a dog groomer from British Columbia Canada and I've been grooming for one year now. I love it. I've had some time to run a shop for the summer and I'm confident I can run my own in the very near future. I like working with and for other people though. Fridays I work by myself though and it can be a bit lonely. Also when I'm not the boss I don't need to worry about paper work and anything that isn't the ...

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm not a groomer, however I run My Dog Wash Plus More in Dartmouth NS.

I learn so much from these forums that I can incorporate into my business.

I don't know how you all feel about self serves, but I feel that they serve an important role in helping to keep dogs healthy.

Hello!

My name is Lori, I live in Kitchener, Ontario. I'm a 27 year old, married, and mom to 2 kidlets and 2 furbabies. My kids are 8 and 5, and my furbabies are Austin, 6 year old Sheltie, and Trekker a 3 year old Husky-Chow.

Two summers ago, I took my horse groom apprenticeship. Unfortunately, I was not able to finish the course, and since not having a vehicle, I haven't been able to get a job doing horse grooming. However, I would very very much like to learn how to groom dogs. I do ...
