spring rush is going to be the death of me.

spring rush is going to be the death of me.
I think my spring rush is turning into a spring/summer rush. Bleh! Had a huge long haired GSD that has only been groomed by me once, three months ago. Plus, I BRUSH BURNED THIS DOG on the really thick part of the shoulder. I have never brush burned a dog.. I just really wanted to get all that excess coat out. Was only using a pin brush and a dematting rake. Said to keep an eye on it and I'll pay vet bills if need be.. owners seem to love me and weren't too fazed. Then a newfie that had to be shaved. And of course, today was the day my knee decided not to work. I was out running around with the dogs last night, woke up this morning and couldn't bare weight on it! Went and bought a brace and hobbled my way through the day. Thank the groomer gods that my fiance was around to do the lifting =) I'm baring a bit more weight on it tonight but I'm still in rough shape. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Had a cancellation and almost did a happy dance.. until my knee reminded me. How's everyone's spring rush going?
OH and just to add, I have a whole bunch of dvds and top knot bows coming from sk9klippery.. I've been going to the post office every day. I'm too excited for this
That will be enough to make this spring rush worth it.

LOL, i hope you get them soon!!!
We haven't really had much of a spring rush this year. Yes we're busy, but we're not booked a week in advance, but rather day to day which is fine. We're up in numbers too because we're accomodating everyone. Hang in there beth, and try to prebook your clients for so your busy in the fall too!!!

I seem to be busy all year round... even in the dead season I'm usually booked at least a week in advance. Small town with only two shops. I was also able to keep another girl on part time this winter which was nice.
I'm thinking they'll be in the post office when I go back to work on Tuesday.. gonna check first thing in the morning.. and take my laptop! =)

I haven't had a lot of bookings this spring/summer, but I have also given up doing large dogs, such as Golden Retrievers, Huskys, etc. That probably accounts for about 1/3 of my business, especially in the spring for shave-downs. I did shave down a Golden yesterday only because it is one of two dogs in the family and I am happy to do the other one, so I said I would continue with the GR. When you haven't been in that mode for a while, it sure took a lot out of me.

I know eh.. did another Newfie yesterday and I'm really feeling it today. I'm only 25 too, so this is not good. I said a month ago that I won't be taking on any new biggies, unless they're going to be in at least every 8 weeks and aren't too hard to handle. I have enough of them, plus my part timer doesn't mind doing them.
