Gouda, could you tell us where you find the dye and how you use it?

Sure……You can buy the manic panic from sally’s. You can apply it dry or wet and I leave it on for about 10 min and then rinse. Keep in mind that the bright pinks will stain quite a bit.

I bought Manic Panic a few weeks ago to use on my dog. It was only $15 a bottle. I haven't used it on her yet though, I'm kind of nervous it will look silly.. PLUS I can't decide how I want to colour her! zebra stripes, or coloured feet, or a heart tattoo on her somewhere, I can't decide! But as soon as I do get the guts to do it I will post a picture of her on here afro

Gouda, How many washings until manic panic comes out? when rinsing does the coloring run onto other areas and stain the uncoloured area? I want to make stencils but I want the line defined, have you done anything like that? I've never colored a dog before, but this week I will try for the first time.

The pinks will stain the most on other areas when you are rinsing, so you have to be creative when you rinse or you can put shampoo on those areas…..I sometimes put the dog in a garbage bag LoL. The blue does not seem to last long and the black just does not work. I would start with dying a tail, it is easy and will give you an idea how it works. There is a learning curve for sure, so practice on your dog. As for the stencil I would advise using blo pens......watch out cause it is additive LOL

I LOVE dying my Maddie dog! She's purple right now, but I prefer her in pink Smile I use Manic Panic, and I buy mine at Shoppers Drug Mart. It's about $14 for a tub of it, and it will dye her about 5 or 6 times...and that's using it about once every month and a half.

Wow, too cool! Great advice too. Ok, This week for sure, Pixel is getting a pink tail. It will freak out my grandma, but if she can handle this, then maybe she can handle the pink racing stripe that's sure to follow! oh I love being a groomer!

oh and sarah, your maddy is CUTE! she belongs at a punk concert.

I've done it. I coloured my little girl Pixel. Now I want to do her whole body. I was afraid I would get dye on parts I didn't want coloured, so I covered her with a bag. I think I was a bit to paranoid with the manic panic because if I washed it off right away I couldn't see the spot it got smudged on. I only let it set for 5 minutes too cause I didn't know how intense it would be. Next time I'll leave it on for the whole 15 minutes!

I have used blow pens.....

Post by poodlegirl on January 24th 2008, 6:05 pm

I use blow pens on my cat...it is difficult to get a definate line the colours do blend a little but it is easy to use and alot less mess then manic panic. But manic panic does leave the colour more vibrant.
